iOS App Reviews

  • Had high hopes

    By RyanSty
Installed the app today on my son’s iPad. I was excited with options for him to do chores to earn internet time. However, he just went to Safari for the first time and the VPN has completely shut him down. No YouTube or any page. Disabled the app and Safari was back to blazing speed. Now back to searching for the right app
  • Can’t use Netflix

    By JBS342
I love this app and the concept with one HUGE caveat - one of the main things my kids use their iPads for is to watch Netflix and when Unglue is enabled they can’t do that because of the VPN. So as much as I want to use this app, this negates that possibility. I just saw a notice that they have stopped using VPNs with android. If they can get that done with the Apple app I will definitely be using this again. Until then, I’m afraid this won’t work for us. Also, it doesn’t work for all apps. There have been a few of my kids games that aren’t tracked. So Goat Simulator can play all day without one minute counting against screen time.
  • Great app but messes with medical app on phone

    By WriterJeannie05
My son and I have tested this app over the weekend and we both really liked a lot about it. The chores for time and the steps for time we’re fantastic. He loved that ability as much as I did. Unfortunately we had to uninstall because it created issues with his medical device app (Dexcom for Type 1 diabetics), which requires constant internet access to share data. Even though his regular internet time is set to unlimited on UnGlue , it seemed to create some kind of conflict- I’m assuming it’s the VPN but not sure. I wish we could have kept it since we both really liked how it worked. If anyone has a medical device app on their kid’s phone, I highly encourage testing this first when you can be together and don’t rely on the shared data for a few days. The interference wasn’t all the time for us this weekend, but happened often enough not to be able to trust this as we’d hoped we could.
  • Good, but...

Good app with lots of features but it won’t let my son access things like Netflix or Roblox unless I spend 40+ dollars on a puck to run on our home network in addition to the $10/month. I only want to use this for summer time so it doesn’t seem worth the cost.
  • Good but....

I liked this alot and it worked well for my daughter however she uses my ipad so maybe being able to have multiple users per device.....? Also, my son watches youtube on our tv through appletv. My kids do not have their own devices but if/when they do, this would be useful.
  • Working great

My kid getting the chores done now:) no nagging
  • Fatal flaws

This app relies on the child to keep the VPN on. This is something the child can turn off, and the app will simply not work. The app is supposed to notify the parent that VPN has been turned off, but it will do so only after several hours. This gives children plenty of time to bypass both the adult content and time restrictions that the app is supposed to provide.
  • Hard to remove

    By TammyLee_B
This app is awful to try and remove when not needed anymore do not diwnload unless you plan on keeping it forever
  • Doesn't work

    By MSmammaFighter
Great concept but needs work. Stopped letting my see and request time for chores. Also if he was out of entertainment or internet time my son was still able to use apps and go online. App caused more frustration instead of helping. Created conflict. Tried reaching out to customer service but got no help. Deleted app and trying something else.
  • Awesome ideas, confusing/bad execution

    By MelodyNY92
The stated features of this app is almost exactly everything I could possibly want in an app to manage my kids’ screen usage (ages 10 and 8). Thing is, I’m not sure it’s doing what it says it’s supposed to do. In the usage report, apps we don’t even have on my kids’ phones are coming up. Bizarro. As for time, both my children are able to use apps like YouTube after their Entertainment time has elapsed. Even looking at the day’s usage report it’ll give a number that’s more than the allotted allowance time + allowable piggy bank withdrawal + whatever chores/step time he earned for the day. How is that possible?!! My daughter has access to the internet after the internet schedule is over. Isn’t controlling app/internet time the whole purpose of this app?!!!
