Canary Mail - Secure Email App iOS App Details

Modern email apps compromise on security or features. Canary does not. Some of your most important info is shared via email, which is why we built end-to-end encryption into our app. This ensures only you and the person you're communicating with can read what is sent, and nobody in between, not even your provider. All of this happens automatically: no need to turn on settings or set up special secret keys to secure your emails. Welcome to secure, effortless, email. **ENCRYPTION ON DEMAND** With Canary's one-click encryption, you can effortlessly enhance your email security. The email is encrypted on your device and decrypted on your recipient's device. It will be unreadable on your provider's web interface, or by anyone else on any other app! • Automatic: Automate the key exchange to focus on crunching emails, without worrying about security. • Manual: Advanced PGP users can manage their own keys and exchange encrypted emails with anyone. **FOCUS ON WHAT'S IMPORTANT** With natural language search, smart filters, algorithmic bulk cleaner, and intelligent typography enhancements, Canary helps you easily find and act on what's important, and get rid of what's not! • Focused Inbox:Canary learns which emails are important to you and highlights them for easy access. Intelligent typography enchancements ensure optimum readability. • Natural Language Search: Search for photos from dad, receipts this month, or unread newsletters. Canary understands what you're looking for and finds it first time, everytime. • Smart Filters: Quickly isolate unread emails, or emails with attachments. Check if you've missed replying via the unanswered filter. Gmail users can also access their Inbox tabs / categories. • Bulk Cleaner: Canary's adaptive algorithms learn which emails are likely to be unimportant. Tap on the magic wand and scroll to automatically find, select, and then delete unwanted emails. **POWERFUL FEATURES** Don't pay a monthly fee for features you want and need. With Canary, you always have full access! • Read Notifications: Get notified when your emails are read. • Snooze: Deal with emails at your convenience. • Email Templates: Avoid repetition. Save and re-use frequently sent emails. • One-Click Unsubscribe: No need to look for pesky unsubscribe links. **SEAMLESS INTEGRATIONS** Email plays a central role when it comes to files, events, and tasks. So we made sure Canary plays nice with your favorite apps! • Google Drive • Dropbox • Todoist • Things • iCal • Google Calendar • Giphy • Keybase & MIT **USE YOUR FAVORITE EMAIL PROVIDER** Get all of Canary's powerful features and cutting-edge encryption technology with your existing email account(s). iOS App Reviews

  • I’ve finally found my one

    By dareyoutolaugh
I’m an IT professional. Much of my life, a lot of people’s lives, revolves around email. I’ve been surprised with how hard it is to find a good email client for iOS. The default mail app is too basic, the “free” apps have shady business models, most paid apps are either clunky, unstable, subscription based, and/or also have shady business models. Canary is the first mail app I’ve found that does what I want in a streamlined package that isn’t from a company that’s keeping my emails or my passwords. I’ve bought or tried almost every email app for iPhone and Canary is the best of the bunch. Hoping for a unified inbox for WatchOS and maybe some tool-tips for icons, but otherwise, this is close to perfect and a steal at $4.99
  • Good concept but flawed

The email app is nice and crisp and I found it easy to use, but anytime I try to attach a file from my Google Drive it crashes. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and tried again with the same result.
  • Pricing error or shady business tactics?

    By mtbush
So my 3-day trial just ended and the price of Canary “conveniently” went up $5, from $4.99 to $9.99. What is up with that? Based on my trial-time, Canary appears to be a solid email app with a ton of functionality and an Apple Watch app to boot. I really hope this is an App Store pricing error, if the $4.99 deal is limited to the 36-hour window the developer needs to be a little bit more transparent in their build notes, store listing and IAP options.
  • Getting better and better!

Has become my go-to alternative to the stock email app. Unlike airmail, the devs continue addressing issues and including new improvements. Recent changes I’ve appreciated include exchange account support, and a dark mode for email viewing. All I’m really waiting on now is a dark mode for the composing view, and the ability to turn off in-app noises. Give this one a shot!
  • Can’t even set it up

    By Jepasham
It asked me for my email and password. I know full well they are right and it kept saying they were wrong. Couldn’t even set it up.
  • Interesting model but needs to improve

I like that you are able to try the tool for 5 days. Unfortunately 5 days is not enough to stick to a new email client from a previous experience, specially when there are limitations and bugs. I contacted the chat business support which I have to say is quite neat and works fine, with replies next day. They answered my questions and were interested in things that were not supposed to be wrong but indeed where in an iPad Pro with Apple Keyboard. Some of these bugs apparently got resolved in an update but since the trial period was over I updated the app and couldn’t verify this. I suggest that the trial period is zeroed with each new version. This would eventually attract new customers that are seeking for bugs to be fixed or new functionality implemented (to me, being able to load external images on a message by message basis). Otherwise the app will be deleted and forgotten.
  • Great App! Best one I’ve tried I’m months!

I’ve tried about 7 other email apps in the last year. This one is by far the best over all. Love the black background for less glare at night!!!
  • Apple, Please Remove This App From The App Store

    By Ken R
It boggles the mind why Apple hasn't already pulled this app from the App Store. This developer has positioned this app as a "Secure" e-mail client—PGP secure. Well, I purchased this app over 2 months ago to find it cannot decrypt PGP encrypted attachments—this app's flagship feature. And, the fixes were nowhere to be found. There were a slew of other serious bugs as well—one's that could cause you to lose messages. I soon grew tired of the customer disrespect, and sought and acquired a refund. Then approximately 1 week later, I get a reply from Jude—apologizing for missing my posts and the serious bugs. Then, FINALLY, an update appeared that listed a lot of bug fixes. So, I decided to give this app another shot. Guess what? STILL NO PGP DECRYPTION!!! 2 more updates and STILL NO PGP DECRYPTION!!! I permanently done this time. APPLE, PLEASE PULL THIS APP FROM THE APP STORE!!!! Response To Developer Response: What a load of garbage! You know darn well Canary's support of PGP is a complete train wreck! And, you've fired your former subcontracted tech support service provider, "Canny" to erase all that extremely negative feedback your app . In my attempt to access my original issue reports I sent way back in January 2018 (to copy & paste so I don‘t have repeat the typing of the same information), I can no longer access the posts from Jude with Canny. So, if you want my issue report, access my original 1/29/18 post that took someone a month to address. Perhaps you can still access those Canny posts on your end. The main problem I'm having is reading encrypted pdf documents (received faxes) from our Faxage fax service provider that can be opened without issue using GPGSuite with Apple Mail on MacOS. Find & read my original detailed posts.
  • Scam

    By Dmitry
The Support chimps that keep replying on bad reviews for this app ... have never actually used pgp / gnupg in their life. It only works with another canary user. Badly. It doesn’t work with anyone using any other gpg or gpg client. Manually managing keys with iTunes and laptop is ridiculous and unrealistic. Dear support person. Before replying saying there is help doc and it’s not true etc. actually try it first.
