    Update this app already...
  • Sigh. Good app from 2000s

Good app for pdf markup. Had to pay to upgrade from iOS 10 edition. Nothing seems different from GoodReader from iOS 6. Especially the transfer to iPad screen… It’s very 2000s. This is a gimmick to get more money out of me. I won’t be paying to get this app again 👌
  • Can’t crop, can’t contact support

I purchased GoodReader 3 because I needed more robust FTP access, and I was happy with it. I haven’t needed that for awhile, so was somewhat frustrated to find that I had to purchase it again (instead of just upgrading, like most paid apps did for iOS 11), but decided to go for it for the functionality. When I discovered that it doesn’t HAVE the functionality I needed, I questioned my sanity for paying so much more than the going rate for this app, TWICE. I couldn’t find much in the GoodReader support documents about cropping, but was eventually able to find another forum that explained that the crop function is a view setting and doesn’t actually carry through into exports. WHY WOULD I BUY A PDF EDITOR TO MAKE EDITS TO MY PDF THAT I CAN ONLY VIEW IN THE EDITOR?!?!?!? I paid $4.99 to waste my time cropping pages as an exercise in futility? Even more impressed to find that all of the support and contact links on your website launch a javascript that my iPad can’t open. So much for supporting Apple products... So, instead of reaching out to troubleshoot my problem, I’m forced to rant here. Can’t wait to see what you charge for GoodReader 5.

Great app for organizing research and educational PDFs. I have used GoodReader for many years.
  • Just fell from my best app to junk

This used to be my go to app for all the PDF files for many years. I had recommended to many of my friends. Alas, there is a major problem with the app. It does not sync with Google Drive. The solution is not to use Google drive?? Come on, think. I am actively looking for a different app to replace this.

I’ve used GoodReader to annotate and read my textbooks and PDF for school for a few months now. I’ve really enjoyed the experience of READING pdf’s in this app. However, it has a few setbacks. I write on almost every pdf I read with the Apple Pencil. For an app as good as GoodReader, you would expect it to have palm rejection and easily accessible/modifiable controls for writing. It does not. I find myself incredibly frustrated when my palm makes marks on the pdf after I’ve written with the pencil and have to go back and erase all those small random doodles. Nowadays many apps come integrated with Apple Pencil vs finger discrimination, which is incredibly helpful when writing on a pdf during class and trying to keep up with the professor. Additionally, when dealing with syncing a drive with GoodReader, it would often create an error in GoodReader if I modified or moved a file in my computer. GoodReader has, in my opinion, the most potential out of all the pdf-annotating apps in the App Store. It is truly a great application and handles pdf’s beautifully. It just needs some refining and a few additional features.

Great app, but needs to recognize Appel pen better—pressure sensitivity, palm rejection, navigate pages with finger while in stylus mode. I would also love to add notes to highlighted text. When is anticipated release date for version5? I have been using this app for proofreading—would love to have an almost opaque 2" bar that I could drag up and down like a ruler and still annotate and flip pages at the same time.

Reliable, fast, organized, easy, WIFI xfer, works offline, feature rich and the only PDF reader I installed on my new iPhone.
  • Abandoned (I've now moved on).

Used to be good back around iOS 8 but it is now old and doesn't support the new features such as split screen and Apple Pencil that came out in 2016, already a year ago. Also the inking is very poor as if you create two small marks far away from each other on the page it turns them into one massive rectangular object with the min and max x,y points of the marks. This app has been abandoned maybe because they are still getting so many good reviews they think they don't have to do anything else. Maybe they are afraid of losing those 1479 reviews that average to 4.5 stars (like what other, much more courageous, app developers are facing). Maybe they should change the name to "oodreader" for out-of-date reader. This app is abandoned despite what will probably be a reply at some point from someone to the contrary. I've now moved on from goodreader and found a new app that suites my needs. Also I think many of the reviews are "fake reviews". One of them recently (June 25th 2017) said that the app keeps getting better. This app hasn't changed in almost three years!!
  • Abandoned and out of sync, literally

The app is over a year out of date, which would be ok if old functionality still worked. Unfortunately, the app will no longer sync with Google Drive due to failed permissions. Version 5 has been promised for over 9 months based on developer response to other reviews. Multiple posts online indicate the developer has known of the issue for over 6 months and made no move to release a fix. Instead, they suggest people switch cloud services pending release of 5. Ridiculous! My suspicion is that they will do what they did before which is release a ‘new’ product with 5 (like they did with 4) so they can try and force new app purchases. The app would get only one star given shoddy practices and customer service. However, I have it 2 since it does still work - IF you can get your files in.
